Journal of Urban Learning, Teaching, and Research
Call for Papers
The AERA SIG: ULTR provides professional opportunities for its members to publish scholarly articles in the Journal of Urban Learning, Teaching, and Research (JULTR). We strongly encourage our members to take this professional opportunity and share your knowledge about urban education with more than 400 members across the United States as well as in other countries. Please carefully review the submission guidelines and selection criteria before you submit your article. All manuscripts are blind-reviewed by at least three members of the JULTR Editorial Review Board. For acceptance and publication in JULTR, manuscripts must be recommended for publication by at least two of the three reviewers. The review process generally takes about two months from the submission due date.
Electronic Submission Guidelines:
- The manuscript must be word-processed, double-spaced, in Times New Roman 12-point font, with all one-inch margins, on numbered pages, including the first page.
- The manuscript title and abstract should appear in the body of the manuscript. To facilitate the blind review process, no authors' names or institutional identifiers should be noted in the manuscript. If they are included in the paper, the manuscript will be returned to the author(s) without a review.
- The recommended manuscript length is approximately 1,500 to 3,000 words.
- Figures, tables, charts, and graphs must be camera ready.
- All manuscripts must conform to the stylistic guidelines of the most recent publication manual of the American Psychological Association.
- Manuscripts (including abstract & title), cover letters, membership verification, and Publication Authorization Statements should be emailed as Microsoft Word documents in four different attachments that can be downloaded separately. Publication Authorization Statements may be mailed, but the others must be emailed.
Note: Every author and co-author must be a current and active AERA and ULTR SIG member at the time of manuscript submission. Only articles submitted by current ULTR SIG members will be reviewed.
Manuscript Selection Criteria:
- The content of the manuscript is related to the current literature on urban learning, teaching, and/or research.
- The manuscript's content is of high interest to professors, administrators, researchers, teachers, and other practitioners in urban learning, teaching, and research.
- The content of the manuscript is current and/or innovative and adds to the body of knowledge about urban learning, teaching, and/or research.
- The manuscript is well-written (well-organized, clear in purpose, and free of grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors).
- The manuscript adheres to proper APA standards and includes all parts of an APA Paper: (a) Introduction, (b) Conceptual Framework, (c) Method, (d) Results, (e) Discussion, and (f) Implications/Conclusion, as well as proper citations and references.
- The manuscript is free of biases/stereotypes.
- The manuscript has correct calculations, figures, graphs, and/or tables.
- The manuscript is of the recommended length (approximately 1,500-3,000 words).
